The Biomass Magazine recently posted that a complete biomass pellet mill line was under construction now in Ahoskie, North Carolina. It also said that another line was going to be built in Garysburg, America.
In fact, not only the United States and other developed countries are building biomass pellet mill lines, but also developing countries are in great demand of biomass pellets. The reason is that, in the coming years, energy demand will mainly grow in developing countries. It is even estimated that by the year 2035, developing world will demand about 2 times biomass energy as developed world. Also, the energy crops have lower costs in developing countries. What’s more, countries like China and India have become world main biomass pellet mill manufacturers, so they can supply economical and efficient pellet mills domestically.
Here we take some examples:- India and Pakistan: There are several pulp mills, sugarcane factories and other biobased industries in these two countries, so biomass waste is plenty. As a result, they must make use of the waste. But at the same time, demand for heating fuel is still increasing, and traditional fuel resources are always not efficiently and scientifically utilized. Consequently, modern biomass energy as pellet comes into people’s awareness. Therefore biomass pellets are welcomed in India and Pakistan and the demand will grow.
- South and Southeast Asia: These include China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines, etc. Some of them are developed countries, but most belong to developing world. These countries keep expanding their biomass pellets production in recent years to export to EU countries and also meet their increasing demand for renewable energy.
- Latin America: these countries have large quantity of forest and crops. So there have great amount of forestry and agricultural residues for industrial use. Traditionally they use raw wood as fuel, so it is easy for them to accept more efficient biomass pellets as fuel.
